As a designer my philosophy is to create an experience. I believe an eye for detail is one of the most important skills a designer can have. Fashion is an art often overlooked by the average consumer with the rise of fast fashion and mass production at the expense of quality. It is my goal to bring into focus the artistry; the attentive care of a design team in the pursuit of a dream to create future museum pieces rather then another garment among thousands already rotting in a landfill. There is something powerful about fashion as a decorative art. This is because "decorative" as a descriptor was commonly used as a derogatory term to critique art on a basis of misogyny. It was believed that a curated skill populous among woman was inherently less worthy. I want to reclaim the craft and reinvent an understanding of decoration. My wish is to challenge people with my designs, to criticize patriarchal systems and inherited opinions that certain sectors of art hold less merit.

I am an accomplished storyteller within my work. I create a universe for my vision and funnel my emotions through. I achieve this with eye for detail as well as my abilities in conceptualization. My skills for illustration in particular help me to communicate my ideas. Drapery is also among my talents, and I often use it as a tool for added dimension, drama, and, movement.

Transitional Stays: A Modern Recreation
Transitional Stays: A Modern Recreation

Largely, I seek inspiration from the past. Fashion history is by far my greatest muse. The Victorian, Regency, Rococo, Edwardian eras captivate me the most with the roaring 20s, 50s, 70s, and 90s following suit. Structural Garments from these periods have also served particular interest. There is knowledge to be obtained from the hands of those who came before that I wish to learn in order to enhance my own abilities. Gothic influence, the human physche, supernatural and spiritual themes play a role as well in many of my collections. I am a romantic in all that I do, I project my thoughts in feelings into my art as though it were a golem whose clay I give life. The influence of nature is undeniable. Organic shapes render themselves frequently into my process accompanied by exaggerated feminine shapes. h

Fashion for me has been a lifelong love and its hard to imagine a time I wasn't fascinated by ornate structures of haute couture. It is harder still to imagine a day I was not creating, or a night my mind wasn't flooded with ideas. I want to pay a contribution to myself; to the little girl who still lives inside of me, and to create for the love of a dream that will not die.
